An easy cocktail recipe for a
Tequila Sunrise
The popular sweet cocktail with tequila and orange juice
Ingredients
- 5 parts tequila
- 10 parts orange juice
- 1 part lemon juice
- 1 part grenadine syrup
- ice cubes, crushed ice
- highball glass
How to mix a Tequila Sunrise
For a Tequila Sunrise cocktail fill a highball glass with crushed ice. Mix all ingredients, except grenadine, with some ice cubes in a shaker and strain into the glass (the ice cubes you used for mixing the ingredients stay in the shaker). Now carefully add the grenadine so that it will slowly run from the top of the glass to the bottom. Do not stir. Garnish with orange slice and serve immediately.
Bartender’s tips and advice
- The name of the drink has to do with the red and orange color of the drink and how those colors slowly mix and change when the red grenadine sinks to the bottom of the glass.
- Whenever possible, use fresh squeezed orange and lemon juice. There´s at least 1 1/2 oz. (= 4,5 cl = 1 shot) of juice in every orange and at least 1 oz. (3 cl) in every lemon.
